The 2015 Summer Infinity Cup was the very first iteration of the Infinity Cup. Sixteen (16) boards were scheduled to compete in a single-elimination bracket to see who was to be crowned as the first-ever champion of the Infinity Cup. The cup was streamed on the Official /icup/ Hitbox by Cotton !!ndCMl81rB2, and individual matches were later uploaded to the /icup/ Dailymotion.

Despite several mishaps including a serious communications failure that lead to /leftypol/ fielding a goalkeeper with boosted stats, necessitating the voiding and replaying of two matches, the first Infinity Cup was widely regarded as a success, and drew an average crowd of at least 300. The Round of 16 matches was held on June 27th, the Quarterfinals on June 28th, replays from the /leftypol/ mishap on July 3rd, the Semifinals and 3rd Place Match on July 4th, and the Final on July 5th.

The Final, which saw offensive machine /a/ face off against God-backed /christian/ drew the largest crowd of any match, with over 600 in attendance, including 8chan's leader (´・ω・`) ♿ 8chan Administrator (Fredrick Brennan). /a/ won the match 8-5, rounding out an incredible run during which they scored six goals per game, on average. /k/ edged out /v/ 3-2 to take home third.

The Golden Boot ended up being shared between /a/ striker DIO BRANDO, and /christian/'s very own St. Paul, as both scored eleven goals during the tournament.

/leftypol/ stat error and voided matches[edit | edit source]

On June 30, two days after /leftypol/ destroyed /pone/ 6 - 3, an anon pointed out that /leftypol/'s goalkeeper had significantly higher stats than /pone/'s. A subsequent investigation into /leftypol/'s export found that their goalkeeper had been assigned 77pts for all stats, to the 70 of other teams -- this being the product of a rule change late into planning for Infinity Cup I and nobody checking team exports before the cup began. As a result, the following matches were voided, and replayed on July 3, 2015.
