Infinity Cup 6, also known as ICUP 6 and The 2020 Summer Infinity Cup, is a virtual divegrass tournament set to take place in the summer of 2020. As the previous Cup's winner, /kind/ will host the tournament. Further information about the cup and its organization can be found on the /icup/ board.

Infinity Cup 6 Friendlies[edit | edit source]

The Infinity Cup 6 Friendlies took place on July 18th and for many, was a first look at seeing their team hit the pitch, albeit in a very out-of-form shape. Many laughs were had and nothing went to 30 rounds of penalty kicks, so you could consider it a success.

Competitors[edit | edit source]

Pots[edit | edit source]

The draw was held, and crashed with no survivors on August 1st, 2020. As the winner of the previous Cup, /kind/ was automatically drawn into Group A. Given that a total of 14 teams were either new or did not field a team for the previous Cup, Pots 3 and 4 were simply combined into a very large Pot 3, from which two teams were drawn into each group.

Pot 1 Pot 2 Pot 3

Tiebreakers[edit | edit source]

As outlined on the Rules page, tiebreakers were in place should there be teams who jockey for the same position in a pot. The tiebreaker is as follows:

Final Spot in Pot 1[edit | edit source]

A tie between /ausneets/, /animu/, /monster/, /2hu/, and /wooo/ emerged for the final spot in Pot 1. Based on points accrued in the Group Stage, /wooo/ took the spot with their 6 point performance.

Placement of Third Place Teams[edit | edit source]

Given the number of teams in the tournament, 28, the classic method of taking the top two from each group would only give 14 teams. In order for a proper Round of 16 and avoidance of any squabbles of teams earning byes, all third place teams will have their results compared against each other, and the best two teams will be given a place in the Knockout Stage.
